Vision

The vision of iExplorers Montessori is to support the natural development of children as first hand explorers, empowering them to become the transforming forces in our society leading to a more pleasant and peaceful world.

Mission

iExplorers Montessori will preserve the legacy of Maria Montessori’s principles and practice by advocating for the rights of children and adults to access safe, learning and nurturing educational environments. iExplorers ensures each child strives and develops intellectually, emotionally and socially as a global citizen. In addition to Montessori principles and practices, we are utilizing a research based approach by using The Creative Curriculum®. This research- based, age appropriate approach is challenging, engaging which aims to create a responsive collaborative environment that promotes positive outcomes for children

Our Educational Philosophy

At iExplorers Montessori & Creative Curriculum Academy, we believe that children thrive in nurturing, stimulating environments that encourage them to explore, discover, and grow. Exploration is essential for children to make sense of their world, which is why we offer two rich and thoughtfully designed learning environments—one grounded in the Montessori philosophy and the other inspired by the Creative Curriculum® approach.

Our program is child-centred, recognizing that children learn best through hands-on experiences, observation, engagement, interaction, and independence. Both learning environments provide meaningful activities that spark curiosity, build confidence, and support the development of the whole child.

  • Comprehensive reporting on individual achievement
  • Educational field trips and school presentations
  • Individual attention in a small-class setting

Montessori Learning Environment

Our Montessori classroom/playroom is organized into five core learning areas:

  • Practical Life
  • Sensorial
  • Mathematics
  • Language
  • Cultural Studies

Each area offers carefully designed, hands-on materials that help children develop independence, concentration, coordination, problem-solving skills, and foundational academic abilities. The Montessori environment supports children in becoming confident, capable, and self-directed learners.

Creative Curriculum® Learning Environment

The Creative Curriculum® classroom/playroom provides an investigative, play-based learning experience through well-defined interest areas, including:

  • Blocks
  • Dramatic Play
  • Art
  • Games
  • Reading & Writing
  • Math & Science
  • Sand/Water Exploration

These centers create a responsive and trusting environment where children build relationships, explore their surroundings, and develop key learning objectives at their own pace. Educators support each child’s unique interests, strengths, and learning styles.

Alignment with FLIGHT: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework

Both the Montessori and Creative Curriculum® approaches align closely with FLIGHT – Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework.

FLIGHT provides a flexible, reflective framework that guides early learning and child care practices across Alberta. It emphasizes:

  • Children as active, capable, and creative learners
  • Play as a central, meaningful process through which children explore and make sense of their world
  • Strong, responsive early childhood communities
  • Learning that is deeply embedded in children’s everyday experiences

Our dual-environment model supports the principles of FLIGHT by offering rich opportunities for exploration, expression, collaboration, and discovery.
